Writing Update – August 2021
Hi, all! As I’m sure you noticed, I haven’t been posting much. This is due to the fact that I live on a working farm and our summers are the busiest time of the year.
Back in early June, I swore this summer would be different, but between monsoon-like rains, new fence lines, farmer’s markets, applying for state farm grants, creating a logging plan to open up more foraging space for animals, and helping a neighboring farm while one of the owners recovers from surgery, my writing took a backseat.
The good news is that while things are still pretty hectic, I’ve started carving out time for myself to get back into writing.
My priorities are: finishing The Lunatics: Volume Two, and continuing work on a book I’m writing exclusively for Radish Fiction. It’s called The Space Pirate’s Captive, and it’s a sci-fi romance about a badass bioengineered soldier who gets abducted by aliens after her ship is attacked. I’m going to start posting chapters to my Patreon page, and will continue to post them a few days before their release on Radish, so Patreon subscribers will get early access.
After those two projects are complete, I’ll start posting chapters of Betrayal. I already have the book outlined and about 50k words written, so I’m hoping that will move along pretty swiftly once I start posting here.
I’m also toying with the idea of editing a book that I finished a few years ago but haven’t posted anywhere in its entirety. It’s a historical paranormal romance called Bisclavret. It’s named after an old French poem about a werewolf, only set during the French Revolution instead of the twelfth century (when the poem was written). If you’re interested in reading that, let me know in the comment section.
Okay, so, timing. God knows it isn’t my strong suit. I’m hoping to have both The Lunatics and The Space Pirate’s Captive done by mid-October. Then I’ll be working on Betrayal, and I’m not quite sure where that will be posted yet, as Radish has shown interest in exclusively licensing it. More to come on that later.
Thank you all so much for sticking around and supporting me on this journey. My biggest goal moving forward is to be more active on both my website and Patreon, post some deleted scenes from past works, video updates about writing and reading, and even offer merchandise at some point to higher tier Patreon subscribers.
I hope your summers are going well and you’re all staying safe!
